Core Domestic Natural Gas Safety CCN1 Initial / Reassessment
Course Overview
Core Domestic Natural Gas Safety (CCN1) course is a necessary requirement of the Nationally Accredited Certification Scheme for Gas Fitting Operatives (ACS). Heating engineers may choose to undertake the Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1) as a standalone course if their appliance qualifications expire at a different time. Alternatively operatives may just require the CCN1 qualification if they no longer carry out practical work but wish to maintain their membership with the Gas Safe Register.
The cost of this gas safety course includes training, assessment and the certification fee. CCN1
Training is not a mandatory prerequisite to the assessment.
Course Benefits
Membership with Gas Safe Register is a legal requirement for any operative wishing to carry out gas work in the United Kingdom, Isle of Man and Guernsey. To register as a domestic installer, operatives must hold Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1) plus certification for the appliances they intend to work on.

- Gas pipe work
- Tightness testing and purging, including low and medium pressure
- Chimney systems, recognition and testing

Entry Requirements
For heating engineers whose qualifications expired more than 12 months ago, initial assessment is required. For those installers whose qualifications expired less than 12 months ago, re-assessment training and associated assessment are required. ETA Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1) course covers both routes. The CCN1 course is a prerequisite to all appliance modules and assessments. ETA also offers a Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1) plus appliances training and assessment package for initial and re-assessment routes.
Assessments
CCN1 assessment takes the form of practical tests and multiple choice question papers. On successful completion, candidates will be issued with a Bpec Certification certificate in Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1).
